Morton Grove 2012 VIP of the Year: Kristina Otte

 

The Morton Grove Chamber is pleased to announce that the 2013 VIP of the Year is Kristina Otte. She has tirelessly devoted the last three years to developing her dream of a Morton Grove Farmers Market. Her relentless devotion has created a wonderful Farmers Market experience for Morton Grove. She has brought energy and a progressive style to the community by bringing together community groups, religious groups, the park district, the senior center, library, scouting groups and various village commissions that are working toward a common goal. Through Kristina’s efforts, Morton Grove has a wonderful market for all citizens to purchase quality fresh foods for their families.

Kristina not only devotes her time to the Farmers Market but, is also involved in many other activities throughout the year. She not only tirelessly works with the Farmers Market but also finds time to volunteer at her children’s school. She has been involved with the “Celebration of Culture” in Skokie and works part-time for the Swedish American Museum in Chicago.

 


March 2013 Business of the Month……………Nano’s!

 

Nano'sChris Nano and his wife were no strangers to restaurants having had a restaurant in Oak Park fo 10 years before opening Nano's. Nano's has been a staple of Morton Grove since February of 1986, and since then has gone about making themselves a local nieghborhood restaurant. Chris is proud that he knows his patrons by name and has served generations of families

Nano's specializes in good old fashion, made from scratch pizza, chicken, pasta, salads and more. Everything is made fresh daily from pizza dough to ground beef for their lasagna and meatloaf. You can either eat in the quaint dining area or take your food to go. Either way it is a tasty experience!

Nano's is proud to be part of the community and its pride shows in many ways. They are always participating in fund raisers for senior programs, schools, the Chamber Farmer's Market just to name a few, and always strive to help out groups who need fund raising. Both Chris and his wife believe in giving back the the community and the Morton Grove Chamber is proud to have Nano's as the March Business of the Month.

February 2013 Morton Grove Chamber Business of the Month China Chef!

 

Chica Chef!China Chef has been in business in Morton Grove since 1977. They are locally owned, highly recognized by communities around the area. Their authentic Chinese-Filipino cooking has attracted patrons for many years.

Their success can be contributed to freshly prepared, high quality ingredients and friendly accommodating services. Beef, pork, shrimps, and vegetables are all fresh; done just right. There are also choices of seafood main course like Alaskan Dungeness Crab with lobster sauce, whole Maine Lobster with ginger and scallion, Steamed Dover Sole or Walleyed Pike.

January 2013 Business of the Month: Simkins Funeral Home

 

Simkins Funeral Home has been selected as the January Chamber Member of the Month for their dedication to the Morton Grove Community and volunteerism to not only the Morton Grove Chamber but to community groups throughout the year.

Simkins Simkins Funeral Home, is an independent funeral home which has served the community with a proud tradition of family values and a strong sense of community spirit for over seventy years. As third generation owners of Morton Grove's oldest family owner business, Bill, Jim and Mike Simkins provide professional and dignified funeral and cremation services to families of all faiths. They tailor funeral services to accommodate any specific or changing needs with the care and attention to detail that families not only deserve, but also expect. Each family brings with them their own set of perceptions, beliefs and priorities and Simkins Funeral Home strives to bring all of these into proper focus and provide a comfort level for these families in their time of need.

In an effort to enhance their building and upgrade the Dempster Street corridor, Simkins Funeral Home has invested in remodeling which features an expanded chapel and new entrance.
